Play Action

Here's a view of actual play on the field. This is zoomed, so this isn't what we saw with the naked eye from our seats, but we could still follow the action without any problem. In fact, when the play was taking place at the other end of the field, we could still see what was happening. It is different from watching it on TV because of all the other activity that is visible.

Wow! That's High!

Notice that everyone in this picture is looking at something about eye level to where we were sitting, which means it was up pretty high. I don't know specifically what it was (I was taking pictures, not paying attention), but I suspect it was during one of the fireworks displays after a touchdown. The fireworks are actually suspended on cords from the roof, then ignited after a touchdown.

Viewing Methods

We took a couple of pairs of binoculars with us. We didn't use them much, because the view was pretty good without assistance. Here Brian is trying out a pair, just to see what can be seen with them.

Great Vantage Points

I took this picture of the flags. I didn't notice the people standing above the Indiana flag until I was reviewing the pictures later. I would have liked to have seen the field from their location!

Superstructure

Here's an image that provides a view of the superstructure of the stadium. It is impressive and, I thought, quite artistic. With the large arches supporting the structure, there are no columns to interfere with the view. It appears that very few seats have obstructions.

Coin Toss

Here's the coin toss. Not really all that exciting, but using the zoom on the camera got in pretty close.

Picture Window

Here's the big window at the north end of the stadium. It's pretty neat to see out to downtown. It was a cloudy, murky day, but the view was still great. When the window and roof are open it must feel like an open air stadium.

View

Here's the view of the field from our seats. It was really pretty good. No obstructions between us and the field. Click on any of these pictures to load/download the original and you'll get a better view.

Lucas Oil Stadium - Dec. 14, 2008

Well, the ramp up to these seats was a long one, but we finally made it! Here we are, in the seats, waiting for the game to begin. Notice how much more winded Brian looks (see the rosy cheeks?).
